The Library
The Newberry Library in Chicago, Illinois, houses a vast collection of books, art, and other printed material covering the history of Europe for the past 800 years. Because the library is located at the north end of Washington Park on the near north side of Chicago it is easy to get to. Therefore, this library has been a wonderful haven for the highest quality rare books and works of art. The library asks as a museum because it has special programs for children and students interested in rare books. Because of the high level of security all of the rare books are safe. Also, because of the modern state-of-the-art displays all of the collections are safe from atmospheric damage.
This watercolor shows the Newberry sitting on the edge of Washington Park in it’s lovely brownstone façade. There is an addition to the building on the north side along with park space for staff. Because the new addition was added many years ago and is now considered old school.
