Description
Chicago skyline 204A pen & ink cityscape drawing by artist Stephen Condren, BFA, SAIC.
Cityscape
This cityscape rendering is a view of the Chicago Loop overlooking Burnham Harbor on Lake Michigan. The cityscape is done with a pen & ink drawing following a preliminary sketch. I do a preliminary sketch of the skyline in pencil because is is my guide for where to place the pen & ink that follows. All cityscape drawings require precision because the subject is architecture. When doing any kind of architectural drawing you must be precise.
Chicago skyline 204A
The cityscape drawing above carefully shows the downtown of Chicago. A view of the cityscape from Roosevelt Road on the left to east Randolph Street on the right. Willis Tower is the tallest building in the drawing and in Chicago. I have used pen & ink for the medium because it is very accurate. The delineation of the buildings are correct and can be identified because I drew every skyscraper.
