Cityscape
This cityscape rendering is looking south towards the near north side from Lincoln Park. The scene is popular because of the views of the former John Hancock Center and the Drake Hotel. To the left side of the drawing is East Lake Shore Drive, the richest street in Chicago. The near north side, or Streeterville, has the second largest cluster of skyscrapers that make up the Chicago cityscape. Beyond the perspective of this rendering is the famous Loop, that has some of the tallest buildings in the world.
Chicago Skyline 179A
The cityscape is done in pen & ink, because I use a fine line pen to make the images. I have made use of vertical hatch lines to make the substance of the cityscape skyscrapers. The contour lines nicely delineate the form of the cityscape from the north. On the lower section of the cityscape is the landscaping that makes up the park along Lake Shore Drive. I have used closer fixed vertical lines to show this imagery, and outlined the trees with contour lines. These lines are closer so they make the scene more dense at the bottom. I have not shown this darkened are in the reflection of the water because it would be too murk for the lake.
