Façade of the Loeb Mansion

The Loeb mansion was located at 5017 S. Ellis Avenue in Chicago. The neighborhood is in the affluent Kenwood district which is a part of greater Hyde Park on the south side of Chicago.
The Leopold-Loeb murder #260X mansion is of Tudor style in architecture. The size of the lot was a grouping of 7 city lots to make the grounds of this vast city estate. On the south or garden side was a large solarium which can be seen on the second rendering of the mansion. There was a ballroom on the 3rd floor.

Because the Leopold-Loeb murder #260X case mansion was an inspiration for me to draw the architectural renderings for my delineation course. Before the mansion was torn down in 1970 I took photographs of it. From the photographs that I had on hand I did this architectural rendering as a final project for Mr. Jorgenson’s architectural perspective class at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellen, Illinois. I received his highest grade ever for a final project in his class!
