Chicago Skyline Watercolor Painting #430. Key elements to this work of art are as follows:
- Color
- Skyline
- Lake Michigan
- Color: The colors in this painting are based on green and variations of it. The dominance of the sea green at the base of the painting gives a strong and robust presence of the downtown skyline. The waters of Lake Michigan are a solid form to rest the eye upon and then look upward towards the towering skyscrapers.
- Skyline: The skyline pictured here is looking west from Burnham Harbor. This is perhaps the most famous view of the city and certainly featured on many films and documentaries. In the skyline we can see the Willis Tower, Trump Tower, Aon Center, and John Hancock Center.
- Lake Michigan: The support for this watercolor is from the strong green that is given to us here from Lake Michigan. Though the base tone of this sea green is fairly light, I have carefully worked deeper tones of it so as to support the visual impact of the skyline.
