Gay Cowboy Pen & Ink Drawing

Rugged Herdsman

This pen & ink drawing is in two parts, because I want to show how I achieved the final product. Above is my pen & ink drawing of the cowboy, based on my pencil sketch below it. I have made this a contour drawing rather than a fine detailed rendering, because the photo that I am working from has little clarity in it. I like to use photos as prompts, and not straight-jackets. As an artist I need the freedom to express the image in terms that have meaning to me, because I do not want to replicate photos.

Gay Cowboy Pencil Drawing

Below is my sketch of the gay cowboy that I used as my foundation of the work, because I use this as a guide. This is the basement of the house, and the pen & ink is the superstructure of the work of art. Because the pencil rendering is simple, it makes it easier to draw the pen & ink, because it offers flexibility. If I were to draw the pencil sketch tightly I would be confined to that form. The ink gently flows over the pencil, because there are loose lead lines all over to work from.

Gay Cowboy Portrait

Dandy Boy

This handsome young cowboy is happy to see you, because he has a surprise for you. Now it is up to you to see what that surprise is, because you are looking at him! This is the portrait of a young gay cowboy that is in shadow, because his hat is blocking his face. I have made use of cross-hatching to make the shade and shadows, because they are more precise. This comes from my training as a draftsman in my youth, using a T-Square, and ruler.

Gay Cowboy Drawing #479Z

The lines in the drawing are stronger with a bolder contour than the earlier drawings. I wanted to focus more on the detail of his face. This image is softer revealing more of his light hearted character, which pours through the lead pencil image.

Gay Cowboy Drawing

Sexy Herdsman

This drawing is the completion of Post #476Z, and the last of this series, because the rendering is finished. This very handsome, and sexy cowboy is all that you can ask for in a beautiful male, because he is proportioned handsomely. The most pleasing things to me with this fine young cowboy are his beautiful face, and fabulous pectorals. The architecture of his chest is exquisite, and a joy to look at. One could easily look at his pectorals for hours, as I have done with this drawing, because they are so beautiful.

Gay Cowboy Drawing #477Z

This final phase of the drawing has made emphasis of the contour lines, and shading, because these elements bring out the perspective of his figure. I was playing with the idea of shading the background to compliment the tones on his body, because he looks so rugged.

Gay Cowboy Drawing

Erotic Herdsman

In this third phase, I am getting closer to completion, because there are four phases to the series. As you can see I have added more shadowing to the figure, because I wanted to bring out his physique.

Gay Cowboy Drawing #476Z

It is not my intent to replicate images, and photos, for that is slavery, because there is no creativity in that process. Rather, I like to abstract my interpretation of the image before me, be it a real model, a photo, or an image from TV, because I can telling my side of the story of the image. Always remember that TV, and movies are just drawings, because they all are based on the story line. A story line is a delineation, thus a rendering, with is a drawing. Therefore all thing boil down to drawings. My Post #477Z is the last, and final phase of the rendering.

Gay Cowboy Portrait

Handsome Youth

The drawing above is of the face of a very hot gay cowboy, because his eyes are on you. The look on his face is all invitation for you. However, he does not know the viewer, because that is you. The purpose of beauty is to harness it, because it enriches your life. For we all strive for beauty. The most important thing about beauty is to preserve it, because it gives you inspiration, and comfort. The more that you surround yourself with beauty, the better your life will be.

Gay Cowboy Drawing

This drawing is the beginning of a full length torso that I am going to complete, because this is the study. I have found that it is a good practice to do segments prior to publication, because I can then see the complimenting works of art. The next phase of the drawing is in post #475Z, because this is a series.

Shirtless Herdsman

Above is my pencil drawing of a rugged gay cowboy, because he is walking alone in the hot planes. This fine gay man is a beautiful specimen of male beauty, because he knows how to display his torso. He has covered his left shoulder with gear just exposing enough to strike interest. I have darkened his outline with firm contour lines, but not too strongly. I like this pose because it is full body, rather than just a torso.

Pencil Drawing

The drawing is nicely detailed to show his six pack abdomen and rugged pectorals. The cowboy is all man, and all delight to look at. The large 10-gallon hat ads to his allure, because it nicely hides his face as he is walking towards you. The overalls that cover his jeans make for nice shadowing on the right side, where his shirt is tucked under his belt.

Shirtless Gay Cowboy

Erotic Herdsman

This handsome youth is a wonderful display of the erotic western male, because he has his shirt off, and is giving you the look of invitation. Straight men look at this virile image of a proud gay youth with envy, because they know inside that they want to be like him. This is essentially a simple contour line drawing, with minimal shade, and shadows, because of the bold outline.

Shirtless Gay Cowboy #464Z Pencil Drawing

Below is my preliminary pencil sketch of the cowboy, because I wanted this to be a nice loose study. My intention for the drawing was for sheer pleasure. I had no intention of doing a precise rendering, with all the perfect lines, and shadows, because I just wanted to relax. Just the follow of the ink from the pen on to the paper was the exercise that I need at this hour.

Proper Introduction

Greatest Gift Of All

The greatest gift that you can ever give to anyone, and it is free, is a proper introduction. A proper introduction is the most important thing that you can offer anyone, because it gives the gift of safety. When you offer to introduce someone that you personally know to a person that your friend does not know, but that you know, is offering both your friend, and the person that you are introducing him to confidence, and safety. For your friend is relying upon your good name, and your steadfastness to expose him to a stranger, because this is sound.

It is never wise to meet a stranger on your own and strike up a conversation, for that can lead to peril. That is why you have so many crimes committed today, because people go to bars, and nightclubs to meet people that they do not know, and end up in trouble. God forbid even worse, hooking up online with Internet dating services, this is danger at all levels, because you have not been introduced.

Above is my pen & ink drawing of Presidents Enrique Pena Nieto, (Prime Minister) Justin Trudeau, and Barack Obama, being properly introduced to each other, because they do not know each other. Could there be anything safer? No. A proper introduction is the best policy above all, because it gives safety, and it is free.

Above is my pen & ink drawing of Christian Van Horn, because I heard him sing last night at Lyric Opera of Chicago and wanted to remember him. He sang the part of Count Walter in Verdi’s Luisa Miller. I like this drawing because it shows him with a smile. I drew this image of him, because the photo was on Google. There are many images of Christian on the Internet, because he is now a famous opera singer across the United States, and abroad.

Luisa Miller By Verdi

This evening I has the pleasure to attend a performance of Luisa Miller by Verdi, because I am a Lyric Opera of Chicago subscriber. As always, Lyric Opera delivers the highest quality opera in spades, because they are a world class opera company. The sets for tonight’s product were wonderful. The backdrop was a large canvas of a mountain landscape with lots of greenery, because it was near the Alps. In the stage setting was a very large canvas that was moved around as the scene changed. The painting looked like a Barbizon School landscape by either Corot, or Daubigny.

Christian Van Horn

Bass-Baritone Christina Van Horn, an alumni of the Ryan Center for the Performing Arts, at Lyric Opera of Chicago did an outstanding job as the Count Walter. All the members of the cast were wonderful, because they spent a lot of time practicing their outstanding gifts. Offering to everyone here in Chicago the very best in Verdi, and opera, because they know how to deliver.

Thank you Lyric Opera of Chicago!

Intermission

There was one intermission that lasted for 30 minutes, because then the bell chimed for the curtain to rise. All in all it was an outstanding performance. Thank you lyric Opera, because you offer the best opera. The Civic Opera house was crowed, because it is the home of Lyric Opera, and everyone runs to a winner.
